On the Air

Click here to listen to my first interview as an author: Sunday, 1/11/09 on Urban Literary Review (BlogTalkRadio) with L. Martin Johnson Pratt ( @iluvblackwomen on Twitter ).

Click here to listen to my Saturday, 7/11/09 interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and her co-host Juergen on Kingdom Club on BlogTalkRadio.

Robin Tramble interviewed me on 7/14/09 on the subject "Why Forgiveness Tests Our Faith", during her awesome Dynamic Women of Faith Telesummit. (Recording issues required that the interview be split into two parts - Part II is here.)

My transformation from atheist to born-again Christian minister was fodder for a second 60-minute interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and co-host Juergen Mair on Kingdom via the BlogTalkRadio network on Saturday, 7/25/09.

About My Book

Stepping into the Light: You’re a Christian, what now? is a great primer for the new adult Christian, as well as a devotional and inspiring Christian living guidebook.

Written by Diane L. Harris, the daughter of a South Bronx born Jew and a Jamaican-American ex-Episcopalian Jewish convert, Stepping into the Light is the fearless testimony of a former atheist who admits that while Christian salvation erases the threat of eternal damnation, becoming a Christian is not a magical pill for the ills of life on earth.

Combining curiosity, transparency, a gift for simplifying erudition and a palpable joy, Minister Diane explores the questions for God that inundated her as a “baby believer.”

With clarity and wielding a humble sense of humor, this woman of God leads the way to a down-to-earth relationship with a loving Messiah by answering such important questions as: What’s the meaning of salvation? Who do I become when I’m born again? Do I need to know about spiritual warfare? How is the Old Testament relevant to me as a Christian? What does the New Testament teach? What promises does God have for me? Can I contribute to the kingdom of God?

If you are a Christian, “baby believer” or not, who is asking yourself, “what now?” this book is written for you.

Blog Gratitude

Gratitude is something we don’t express often enough, or maybe just I am guilty of that neglect.

Vivienne (Bingkee), of whom I’ve grown quite fond over the internet, writes a piquant personal blog about being an immigrant in the U.S., called "I Love/Hate America." She just gave me a Nisha’s Friendship Award pictured here. I’m grateful that Vivienne thought enough of me to do this, but I’m more grateful for her.

I started my blog because I read somewhere that I should blog to promote my new book, "Stepping into the Light, You’re a Christian, what now?" Over the last four months of blogging, though, I’ve gotten hooked on this medium about which I hadn’t a clue before. I love the near immediate gratification of publishing online where I can see readers’ responses. I even like the grunt work of design, layout, etc. But as much as I enjoy my own blog, the earnest and creative range of work done by other bloggers buoys my spirit and pushes me to work better.

The really addictive part of this milieu, though, is the people I’ve met: generous, glorious, gentle, genuine, and, yes, grateful people. I subscribe now to so many enjoyable blogs that I’d have to read full-time in order to get through everything in my Google Reader. But there are a few that stand out for me not only because I connect with the material, but because I’ve connected with the people who write it. These are people I’d miss if they stopped writing because I care what they have to say; they inspire me by who they are as much as what they say.

Vivienne is one of those people for whom I’m so grateful. I’m passing on this friendship award to a few others for whom I thank God:

Kylie of 31 Woman

Yvette of Fresh Wind Ministries Intl.

Deb of The Greatest Mission Trip You'll Ever Take

Lori of Persevere

Valerie Lynn of Simply 4 God

I am absolutely humbled and, at the same time, so very grateful for your kind thoughts. God has brought so many wonderful sisters in Christ into my life, and everything is so much the better for your friendship. Thank you for sharing this with me. You have absolutely made my week!

DL God bless you my friend! Congrats on winning the award! You truly deserve it and I am humbly honored to be a recipient of such a beautiful award. Like you I was hesitant as well as clueless on the blogging concept, but have grown to love it. I never expected to form so many friendships nor did I expect my blog to be read by anyone (except family and a few friends). But, God is truly good and I am so very grateful and thankful for all the relationships as well as friendships I have formed through blogging. Yours being one of them. You are indeed a blessing to my life and I am thankful to God for you. Many more blessings to you my friend and thank you with all my heart. I love you.
