On the Air

Click here to listen to my first interview as an author: Sunday, 1/11/09 on Urban Literary Review (BlogTalkRadio) with L. Martin Johnson Pratt ( @iluvblackwomen on Twitter ).

Click here to listen to my Saturday, 7/11/09 interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and her co-host Juergen on Kingdom Club on BlogTalkRadio.

Robin Tramble interviewed me on 7/14/09 on the subject "Why Forgiveness Tests Our Faith", during her awesome Dynamic Women of Faith Telesummit. (Recording issues required that the interview be split into two parts - Part II is here.)

My transformation from atheist to born-again Christian minister was fodder for a second 60-minute interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and co-host Juergen Mair on Kingdom via the BlogTalkRadio network on Saturday, 7/25/09.

About My Book
This area does not yet contain any content.

Stepping into the Light: You’re a Christian, what now? is a great primer for the new adult Christian, as well as a devotional and inspiring Christian living guidebook.

Written by Diane L. Harris, the daughter of a South Bronx born Jew and a Jamaican-American ex-Episcopalian Jewish convert, Stepping into the Light is the fearless testimony of a former atheist who admits that while Christian salvation erases the threat of eternal damnation, becoming a Christian is not a magical pill for the ills of life on earth.

Combining curiosity, transparency, a gift for simplifying erudition and a palpable joy, Minister Diane explores the questions for God that inundated her as a “baby believer.”

With clarity and wielding a humble sense of humor, this woman of God leads the way to a down-to-earth relationship with a loving Messiah by answering such important questions as: What’s the meaning of salvation? Who do I become when I’m born again? Do I need to know about spiritual warfare? How is the Old Testament relevant to me as a Christian? What does the New Testament teach? What promises does God have for me? Can I contribute to the kingdom of God?

If you are a Christian, “baby believer” or not, who is asking yourself, “what now?” this book is written for you.

7 or 8 Things I Love About Me

Over the last three days, I've emerged victoriously healed from a six week bout with Crohn's Disease. Throughout my sick time I managed to write a little during occasional 30 minute bursts of energy between multiple three hour naps each day. I've been blessed during this period to receive two awards from Minister Mamie L. Pock of The Life I Now Live, to which I haven't had the energy to respond until now. I appreciate the motivation. I've been "tagged" as well by Lori Laws of Persevere, who asked that I tell 8 random facts about myself and tagged again by Chozeh of UCanHope2, who asked for 7 facts.

Having trouble coming up with 7 or 8 random facts that were any fun to share, I came across a post by Ally Marie of All Things Ally about the challenge of writing down things one loves about oneself. So, in the interest of saving time and combining all of my overdue responses into one post, here are 7 or 8 things I love about myself:

  1. I love that I forget easily; maybe it's early "oldtimer's", but slights, problems, illinesses, and past mistakes all seem to slip out of mind once they're over. I even forget to act my age more often than not.
  2. I love that my favorite people are all family members.
  3. I love that I look for something good in everyone; I love that I always find it.
  4. I love that I cry like a broken faucet and know how to appreciate a good depression now and then.
  5. I love that I'm still standing, and standing on the word of God.
  6. I love that I've enjoyed a lifelong passion for music, across genres from bluegrass to jazz, from gospel to classic soul to neo-soul, to the next minor sensation.
  7. I love that I my purpose is clear--to share the love of God through writing, teaching, and opening my heart.

(8.  Last but not least, I love that I keep finding people of similar purpose in fellow bloggers.)

I'm tagging and passing along the "Faithful Servant: Sowing Seeds of Love Award" and the "Butterfly Award" to:

Thank you all, for every word you write, and for sharing your gifts.

Tag, I'm it? Oh, this is so cool! This will give me a chance to think of some things that I never spend time thinking about, but which i can give God the glory for. Thanks for thinking of me, and so glad God has wrought a miracle of healing in your life.
