On the Air

Click here to listen to my first interview as an author: Sunday, 1/11/09 on Urban Literary Review (BlogTalkRadio) with L. Martin Johnson Pratt ( @iluvblackwomen on Twitter ).

Click here to listen to my Saturday, 7/11/09 interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and her co-host Juergen on Kingdom Club on BlogTalkRadio.

Robin Tramble interviewed me on 7/14/09 on the subject "Why Forgiveness Tests Our Faith", during her awesome Dynamic Women of Faith Telesummit. (Recording issues required that the interview be split into two parts - Part II is here.)

My transformation from atheist to born-again Christian minister was fodder for a second 60-minute interview with Evangelist Maureen Chen and co-host Juergen Mair on Kingdom via the BlogTalkRadio network on Saturday, 7/25/09.

About My Book

Stepping into the Light: You’re a Christian, what now? is a great primer for the new adult Christian, as well as a devotional and inspiring Christian living guidebook.

Written by Diane L. Harris, the daughter of a South Bronx born Jew and a Jamaican-American ex-Episcopalian Jewish convert, Stepping into the Light is the fearless testimony of a former atheist who admits that while Christian salvation erases the threat of eternal damnation, becoming a Christian is not a magical pill for the ills of life on earth.

Combining curiosity, transparency, a gift for simplifying erudition and a palpable joy, Minister Diane explores the questions for God that inundated her as a “baby believer.”

With clarity and wielding a humble sense of humor, this woman of God leads the way to a down-to-earth relationship with a loving Messiah by answering such important questions as: What’s the meaning of salvation? Who do I become when I’m born again? Do I need to know about spiritual warfare? How is the Old Testament relevant to me as a Christian? What does the New Testament teach? What promises does God have for me? Can I contribute to the kingdom of God?

If you are a Christian, “baby believer” or not, who is asking yourself, “what now?” this book is written for you.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering. -St. Augustine

I am browsing the internet just now while talking to a member of my church who has moved to another church at least temporarily, for personal reasons. It's not that I'm not listening to her, but God is leading me to write about this conversation while it's fresh. This is a wonderful woman of God inside of a hard, thick shell that is beginning to crack just a tiny bit under the pressure of God's call on her life, which she doesn't see yet.

She called me to let me know that after refusing time and again to read scripture at church functions, she finally submitted at a women's conference today and read Hebrews 12:1. First she had complained for days about why one of the ladies working on the conference had asked her to read "that stupid scripture that I don't understand."

I'm laughing over the way her new friend helped her to read and understand the scripture, and thanking God that she has such a friend. I'm laughing about the way she stood up at the conference and told the whole story of "that stupid scripture" and why she didn't want to read it, and she reports that there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

God just lead me to the quote above by Saint Augustine, which reminds me of this beautiful lady and how she has always thought God was out of her reach and how she wanted to be somebody and would probably curse or punch out anyone who said she wasn't somebody, but she didn't treat herself the way she deserved. She's been looking for the wonder in God's creation and not seeing that she is His "fearfully and wonderfully made" creation.

I thank God she's beginning to see the light, and no longer hiding hers under a bushel.

Reading scripture will cause that crack to open more!
God does funny things to get our attention and draw us closer to Him.
Blessings!

Hi,

I'm just being bold, I guess, I want to invite you to check out my Great Awakening blog. People have their own ideas of what God can and cannot do. But God can do all things for with God nothing is impossible.

I'm coming to launch the next Great Awakening in 2009... and I'd like to gather Christians to unite in the cause of Jesus Christ for the next Great Awakening in faith and prayer. Just that simple I guess. :)

So check out my blog and here we go. I will tentatively begin speaking in January and will make myself more public as it "takes off".

Grace.
