Spiritual Weapon: Spirit of God
Friday, January 9, 2009 at 12:31PM This brings us to the last letter of our W.E.A.P.O.N.S. acronym, the letter S, for Spirit of God. The Word promises believers, "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any manhave not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Romans 8:9). God's Spirit in us gives us the desire to do God's will and, when we obey that desire, Satan has no legal opening into our lives. Recognizing and surrendering to Christ is the way to receiving God's Spirit.
Matthew 16:15-16 reports, "He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Then, in the 18th verse, Jesus replies, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
It is important for both new and long-time Christians to remember these things:
- We build on the foundation of Christ's forgiveness
- He builds on our faith, and
- Love is our greatest weapon, as Christian soldiers
If you have not joined the army of the Lord, I pray that you will do it now. Sincerely repent of your sins, ask Christ to forgive you, and invite Him to enter your heart. He will.
