Persevere (an Interview with Lori Laws)
Friday, March 20, 2009 at 06:00AM
Lori Laws of Persevere is one of the first kindred spirits I met online when I started blogging several months ago. She has a warmth and genuineness you can feel through her words and I hope you will visit Lori's blog and find a blessing there.
Lori kindly agreed to let me interview her for this blog.
Lori, to begin with a slightly off-center question, please briefly describe your three favorite people.
My favorite people are those who love the Lord and live to glorify Him. They are the people that give godly advice. They are people in whose lives you can clearly see fruit manifested by the Holy Spirit.
When and why did you become a Christian?
The manifestation of my muscle disease (a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy) caused me to become very broken and very hopeless. That brokenness caused me to search for truth.
I became a born-again Christian September 5, 2001.
How does your illness affect your spiritual life?
It completely affects my spiritual life. This illness is a constant reminder that only heaven can satisfy. I am totally dependent on God in everything. This illness caused me to search for truth, and made me realize life can turn on the drop of a dime... one day you're up, the next day you're down. I'm learning how to turn my lemons into lemonade by comforting others with the same comfort God gives me. This illness is only what people see on the outside. It will never change who I am in Christ.
To change the subject, what is the hardest thing about being a writer, for you?
The hardest thing about writing, for me... is waiting on others (publishers and editors) to print or publish my articles. i want to have others read what I write when I write it, because it's coming straight from my heart, and I know God has called me to write about my life experiences to comfort others.
What is the most pleasurable aspect of writing?
The most pleasurable aspect of writing is hearing the comments and the feedback I get from those that were comforted or touched by my writing.
Please tell us, Lori, about something you have written that made you think in a new way or the subject profoundly moved you.
I was moved by writing an article about the atheist's view of suffering ( "To Believe or Not to Believe" ). I actually went into atheistforums.com and interviewed some atheists. God's love was extremely highlighted--if more of God's children could really love even people we see as enemies or those with different beliefs, then truly the world will know how much God really loves. Writing that article has definitely increased my awareness that God is in love with all of us. yes, we need to help guide others to Christ... but in a respectful way.
"And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way." 1 Peter 3:15-16
What are most curious about right now?
I know I will be healed physically. But when, Lord?
When you make it into heaven, what will be your first question for Jesus?
How many people have come to you because of little ole me?
I have faith there will be many more than you suspect. Thank you, Lori, for your perseverance.

I loved your "superhero" post, by the way. Just left a comment.
Just loved the interview, a wonderful idea!
A powerful interview. Lori has been an inspiration to me since meeting her months ago as well. She has the most awesome love for God. When reading her writings you feel the Spirit of God within each and every post. The questions you asked her Diane were wonderful. Lori will shine for many years to come. I know her blog is blessing people in ways she knows about and some that she doesn't.
Awesome interview Diane!
